Stanley Seelye Delivers Lecture at CU-Boulder
In honor of MLK’s legacy, our employees participate in volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Stanley Seelye, MA, CCC-SLP, clinical education and training manager, was invited back to college by his former advisor and professor at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Stanley was tasked to deliver a lecture on any clinical topic relating to bilingual speech and language development.
Stanley prepared and delivered a lecture titled “Providing Appropriate Counseling to Caregivers of Autistic Children in Bilingual Environments.” The lecture aimed to examine the many “voices,” both professional and personal, who are involved in the shaping of parents’ views and actions as they raise their bilingual, autistic children, especially gestalt language learners. This was compared to research on different communication and quality of life outcomes for this population, and students were given practical counseling strategies to best support these families.
